A few photos in an attempt to give a feel for some of the sights and sounds (?) of the
AG. Click on the thumbnail to see the larger size version of the photo.
All photos on this page were taken by Bob Dunsire, on April 3, 1999. (Again you know
whom to blame)
A typical scene during the solo contest day- Imagine the sound - in this
short hallway there are 5 pipers warming / tuning up! And there are many halls in this
school! |
At the start for
Mary Bruce's soloTenor event. Reid Maxwell didn't know the drum score, but he helped out
anyway. Notice the high tech drum music stand. |
A one of a kind
sweater - do you know the owner? I was thinking of having a 'guess the chest' contest,
since she didn't want me to include her beautiful face in the photo - but we won't. (OK
Christine?) |
Professional
class piping competitor Skip Cleavinger came from Bowling Green, Kentucky. I understand
Skip only knew Bruce Gandy and Alasdair Gillies - before the weekend - he now has dozens
of new friends. |
Ewen MacKinnon
came from Summerside PEI to compete in the Grade 1 piping. He finished 2nd in
Piobaireachd. FYI - Ewen is the WebMaster for the new site PipingUnlimited.com. |
Brian May came from Brookyn NY to compete in Grade 1 piping. Brian won
the Grade 1 Piobaireach at the Annual Gathering last year - he had some drone reed trouble
this year (nuts). |
A few of the trophies and behind the scenes guy Robert MacNeil. Rob is one
of the tireless BCPA workers that help keep this event running so well. (Actually Rob does
a great deal more than just help at the AG!) |
After - trophies
displayed on the stage before the evening's mini-band competition, and before the awards
ceremony - where all this was handed out. Another photo album shows the individual
winners. |
The Northwest
MacGregor Pipe Band was first up in the mini band contest - this was also their first ever
competition. Each band had a classroom like this for warm up and tune up. (Wow - too much
colour in this photo - sorry) |
Each mini-bands' class room was identified for them. Here is the door to
Abbotsford's room . They were the 17th mini-band up, second to last to play for the
evening. |
